Bassett Family Practice is a federally granted Community Health Center located in the heart of Bassett, Virginia. Bassett Family Practice is committed to providing comprehensive, primary health care services to medically underserved residents of Henry County and the neighboring areas of Patrick and Franklin Counties, regardless of the ability to pay.
Med Assist of Martinsville, Henry and Patrick Counties- This Medication Assistance Program provides eligible patients the ability to apply locally for access to free medications offered by major pharmaceutical companies.
Affordable Care Act Questions? MHC Coalition for Health and Wellness is a Certified Applications Counselor organization. Our staff can help you understand, apply, and enroll for health coverage through the Marketplace. Our designated individuals have completed required training; they comply with privacy and security laws, and other program standards.
Ladies First: MHC Community Breast Health Initiative seeks to decrease the number of breast cancer related deaths among women in Martinsville and Henry County by: increasing access to screening mammograms and other diagnostic tests for uninsured women in our community, and providing education and awareness with emphasis on screening mammograms and healthy lifestyle choices that reduce risk factors for breast cancer.
The Coalition offers a variety of aerobic classes throughout the community through the Healthy Community Initiative. Participants simply show up to the class of their choice, inform the aerobics instructor that they are a new participant and fill out the information packet provided by the instructor. Find the class and location that is right for you!
Toolkits. A variety of toolkits are available – from milestones for child fitness and accompanying activities, to navigating the health care system for adults of all ages.

The Henry-Martinsville Health Department provides specific programs, services, and clinics that are devoted to the promotion of health, prevention of disease, and protection of the environment.
Services for men, women, children, and infants: Immunization, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), Tuberculosis, pregnancy testing, Family Planning, and Every Woman’s Life (EWL) clinics; communicable disease control; vital statistics (death certificates); chronic disease prevention and management; Nursing Home Screenings; Women Infants and Children (WIC); and Baby Care.
Environmental Health: Rabies control, sewage permits, lead monitoring, well inspections and permits, drinking water information, and restaurant permits and inspections.
Emergency and Disaster Planning: Coordinates with community and governmental agencies to develop and maintain up-to-date, adequate plans for responding to acts of bioterrorism, infectious disease outbreaks and other Public Health emergencies and threats.
